Sunday Smiles & Award

I wanted to take one day a week to share something in my life from the week that made me smile.

I was able to capture my two little men playing nicely!  The little one loves playing at his big brothers train table and usually his brother is throwing a fit about it.  So, I loved peeking in & seeing them get along!

Also, I wanted to thank Ani from My Favorite Things for passing on the Versatile Blogger Award.

I am supposed to share some things about myself so, let's see.
1. I'm a cat person...I know we're a rare breed!
2. My hubby got me an awesome new sewing machine for my 30th birthday (oh, did I just reveal my age!) and I still have to keep the manual next to me every time I use it!
3. Deep down I've always wanted to live during the Little House on the Prairie time (loved those shows growing up!)
4. I've taught 3rd grade up to 7th and my favorite was 4th (love that age!)
5. Have always wanted to travel to Italy (we were planning to go the first summer after we were married but then found out I was pregnant... I didn't want to go if I couldn't enjoy the wine!)

Enjoy your Sundays everyone!

Friday's Fabulous Finds {for boys} week 1

I thought it'd be fun to start featuring my favorite boy related findings each Friday.  Each week I come across so many neat & creative boy projects and thought I'd put them in one place for us moms with boys.

Check out this adorable boy themed fabric stamping tutorial over at Monkey See Monkey Do.  I am definately going to try this! While you're there check out her tutorial page because she has a ton of really cute boy projects.

Maybe I particularly like this next project because we are a farming family but I think it is really clever! Angie at The Country Chic Cottage came up with her own twist on name art using parts of tractor logos to spell her son's name.  Love it!

The last project I wanted to feature was created by Narelle over at Cook, Clean, Craft,  She put her own twist on the Felt Car Playmat.  It starts as a little house which is so easy to transport.

Then, can fold out into a cute little town with all your child's favorite places!
(love the little construction site!)

Happy Friday!

Travel Bib Version 2

Yesterday I posted about my decision to design a travel bib for my baby boy.  You can see version 1 here.
Today I am going to show you Version 2 which kinda reminds me of those raincoats that fold up into a bag that I remember having as a kid.  Here are some views of it out of the bag.  The front is a laminated vinyl (I need to find a boy print!  This fabric was left over from some Christmas projects I made.

Here is how it works:

There is plenty of room in the bag to add spoon, wipes (these are the individual packets), and babyfood (not pictured).

Travel Bib Version 1

Today, in my neck of the woods it's 62 degrees & beau-tee-ful!  We were able to play in the yard & I even cleaned out my car (much, much over due!).  All of this has put me in a good mood!  Let me share a couple travel bibs I've created.
Now that my baby is on solids it seems like every time we are going to be away from home during meal time I am packing a little travel bag like this :

There's a bib, washcloth, spoon, & usually a container of babyfood.

Well, I feel so wasteful throwing those bags away and thought I'm sure I can make something that would hold all of this & that can be washed & reused!
So, here is what I've come up with so far.
Version 1- Fold n Go Bib:

I had seen this idea somewhere but am not totally in love with how loose the snap closure is.  I am thinking about revising it & doing something with velcro. Overall I think it turned out great, though.

There are pockets on the back of the bib that hold a spoon/ fork, wet wipes, the middle pocket can even hold a container of baby food.

Version 2  here.

Would you like to make one of these?  Here is my tutorial. Would you like me to make one for you?  Email me at bisforboy(at)yahoo(dot)com.
